Nobel Prize

Since the first Nobel Prize was awarded in 1901, the prizes have given public recognition to the world's greatest medical advances. According to Alfred Nobel's will of 1895, the Nobel Prizes are awarded to "those who, during the preceding year, have conferred the greatest benefit to humankind.".

Of the 114 Nobel Prizes that have been awarded for research into Physiology and Medicine, more than 80% have involved animal testing.
