Award winning openness: ideas to take your openness to the next level - new webinar from UAR

Nominations for the 2025 Openness Awards and Professor Sir Colin Blakemore Memorial Award are currently open. Join our June webinar to hear about recent award-winning openness projects and how individuals can champion openness.

James Cruickshank from the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology will talk about the institute's approach to public engagement including two significant events in 2023: a large-scale Open Day for the general public where particular efforts were made to engage with and encourage the attendance of local schools; and a "friends and family" BBQ held at the establishment, where guests were given the opportunity to tour the animal facility to see first hand what the work of their loved ones involves.

Aimee Paterson won the inaugural Professor Sir Colin Blakemore Memorial Award for her leadership in coordinating an Instagram takeover at the Babraham Institute and putting her name and face on social media in a way that many people are not comfortable doing, particularly animal technicians. Aimee will talk about her experience leading this project and how this recognition has affected her career.

As usual, there will be a Q&A session at the end of the webinar.

The webinar will take place on 19 June, 12:00-13:00 BST.

This webinar is open to all.
