Submissions now open for 2026 Openness Conference

Openness Conference: Communicating the Continued Need for Animals in Research | 9-10 June 2026 | West Midlands, UK

Do you have practical advice on how to communicate openly about animal research? Does your organisation have an innovative case study to share with the bioscience community? This is your chance to help conference attendees embed change within their own organisations.

We are looking for submissions for presentations, posters, and workshops that provide practical examples of activities that support openness on animal research. We would like submissions to be focused on the following themes:

  • Public engagement
  • Internal engagement
  • Online and digital communications
  • Engaging with policymakers and the media
  • Openness and the 3Rs
  • Communicating sensitive topics
  • Openness with limited resources
  • Openness for non-research organisations

We are also interested in how the harms and limitations, as well as the benefits, of animal research have been communicated within these activities.

Submissions for abstracts and workshop proposals are now open, and we want to hear from you!

The deadline for submissions is 12 December 2025

Presentations will be 15-20 minutes long, followed by a Q&A, and will take place throughout the conference.

Presenters will receive free registration for the entire conference and one night of complimentary accommodation.
