As you may know, on 25 May 2018 the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into the effect and we would like you to know that Understanding Animal Research is committed to protecting the privacy of personal data we maintain about our members, email recipients, employees and other individuals.

It also explains what we do with your data and what you can do to access, rectify or ask us to delete any personal data we hold. For data protection purposes, Understanding Animal Research is the controller and, unless otherwise noted, is also the processor of data.

We may update this policy from time-to-time by posting a new version on our website. The latest update date and time is shown at the bottom of the web-page.

What data we collect

When you visit our website, we use cookies to automatically collect information about the website or links that referred you to us, your IP address, browser type, language and access times (Technical Data).

We also collect navigational information related to the pages visited on our website including viewed pages, clicked links and other actions taken in connection with the site (Usage Data).

We collect this data and analyse this data using Google analytics.

When you sign up for our newsletter we collect your email address. This email address is added to a list on our email delivery system.

When we send you an email we can see if you open that email and if you have clicked on any of the links the message may contain.

You can unsubscribe from this list at anytime from within the email or by sending a message with an unsubscribe request to us at office@uar.org.uk.

Disclosures of your personal data

Understanding Animal Research will not disclose your information to any third parties unless required to do so by law.

Security

The security of your personal information is important to us. We take all reasonable technical and organisational precautions to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of your personal information. In addition, we limit access to your personal data to those employees and contractors who have a business need to know. They will only process your personal data on our instructions and they are subject to a duty of confidentiality.

We use and keep up to date firewalls to protect our network and use data encryption for passwords. Physical access to facilities where your personal data is stored is limited to authorised personnel.

You have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Most browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies.

We have put in place procedures to deal with any suspected personal data breach and will notify you and any applicable regulator of a breach where we are legally required to do so.

C. Contributor registration

In order to make contributions to the Understanding Animal Research blog you are required to register as a user. Any personal information supplied to Understanding Animal Research as part of this registration process and/or any other interaction with Understanding Animal Research will be collected, stored and used in accordance with the Privacy Policy.

Access will be issued at the discretion of Understanding Animal Research. Understanding Animal Research reserves the right to refuse contributor accounts to individuals, and to withdraw contribution rights without notice.
