The Basel Declaration has announced the winner of its Award for Education in Animal Research: Chiara Ruzza, a molecular oncologist from the University of Ferrara, Italy. She will attend a one week course at the University of Zurich that focuses on the 3Rs, and has been mandated by her university to establish a similar training programme based upon her experiences. Another award announced today was for a researcher from Plymouth University. Dr. Gyorgy Fejer has been awarded an NC3Rs grant to develop a mouse cell line that could be used to reduce and ultimately replace live animals in the study of infectious and allergic lung conditions.
