Frogs and their eggs are used in medical research to study development. For many years frogs were used to test for pregnancy in women. The frogs were injected with the woman's urine, and if she was pregnant the frog would produce eggs. They are now being studied to find treatments for scarring, and this has led to an experimental treatment injected into patients as they are having surgery following accidents and trauma. It is hoped that the treatment will help the body to heal itself more effectively and reduce scarring.
