Wendy Jarrett to be new UAR CEO
UAR's governing council is pleased to announce the appointment of Wendy Jarrett as the new CEO of UAR. Wendy has spent the last three years as Associate Director of External Communications at NICE, where she has developed and overseen a new proactive media relations strategy aimed at explaining NICE's role more clearly.
Before moving to NICE, Wendy spent five years working on the issue of animal research, both with the Coalition for Medical Progress and with UAR. During this time she placed many positive pieces of media coverage, launched the People's Petition in support of animal research and led on the merger between CMP and RDS.
Wendy has more than 23 years' experience in corporate communications and management, mainly in the fields of science and medicine.
Wendy will take up this position on November 19th 2012. For seven weeks from 30th September, UAR Council member Dr Tony Causey will act as interim CEO.
Chair of UAR Council Professor Frances Balkwill said “We are delighted with this appointment. Wendy is just the right person to take UAR forward as we increase our focus on pro-active communication about research using animals.”
