Dr Simon Festing, the Chief Executive of Understanding Animal Research for a little over six years, is leaving the organisation to take up the post of CEO of the Society for General Microbiology (SGM). The SGM governing body announced the appointment today. Simon will take over as SGM CEO when the CEO of 15 years, Dr Ron Fraser, retires later this year.
